Times of India: You can buy homes in the Detroit area for as low as $1500-$3000
Times of India is reporting that
Return tickets for Delhi-New York are priced around Rs 75,000, but with real estate prices crashing in the US, Indians could buy homes there for the same amount! Thanks to the bottom falling out of the US housing market and struggling families abandoning homes, unable to keep up with mortgage payments.I was like "what are these guys saying...this cannot be true.." But then I checked out some local realty sites like century 21 and yes indeed..some of the houses are indeed selling for as low as $1,100 in Livonia. Take a look at this:
A detailed look at US realty websites such as realtor.com, zillow.com and ziprealty.com show that homes with one bathroom and bedroom are being advertised at anywhere between $1,500-3000 (Rs 69,000-1.38 lakh), an incredible fact by itself, in places such as Detroi-MI, Jackson-MS, and Cleveland-OH.

Actually I've seen this for the past 3 months or so, but mostly in Detroit city area.
Unfortunately, I've seen/read/heard that some of these may require as high as 30K just to be inhabitable.
Even so, they are probably worth the investment - if you have the cash and time to do it.
Under one of the homes, it said that the purchase price is $129,900and I believe the rental is $1100 not the purchase price. Double check
Hmmm! That listing is misleading. They snuck in the purchase price inside the details. Makes you wonder about the other listings which are priced so low...
Called Century 21 to confirm. I made a fool of My self. These are the property listed for Lease and the the Property is for rental.
