Indian Dance Recital in Okemos, MI

There is a traditional Odissi dance (India Classical Dance) recital on August 29th (Saturday) from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at Kinawa Middle School Auditorium, 1900 Kinawa Drive, Okemos, MI (map). Shreelina Ghosh, doctoral student in the Department of Rhetorics and Writing, Michigan State University is collaborating with Okemos-based Odissi performer Manasi Mishra. Experience the glimpses of ancient Indian aesthetic and spiritual traditions.

The artists will not only demonstrate the performative aspects of this two thousand year old dance form, but also try to project how it evolved from the sculptures of Konark and Khajuraho temples and vegetable-dye "Pata Chitra" artwork.
